Below is a link for Circus of Cancer, an excellent website by Kelly Corrigan. I read her books, "The Middle Place" shortly after I was diagnosed and "Lift" just recently . She is an exceptional writer and was able to put into words all the thoughts and feelings I was having. She was 36 at the time of diagnosis and also had two very young children. She writes about her diagnosis of breast cancer and learning shortly after that her dad has cancer as well.
My dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's just over two years ago and since my diagnosis has really gone downhill. It is so terribly sad to watch someone you love struggle with this disease and become someone that you don't recognize. I felt horrible during my chemotherapy that I couldn't even visit with him in the hospital. He will be on palliative care soon and we are all so sad; but really, we have been missing him for a long time now.
